Executive Director

Description:

The United Hmong Family, Inc. is looking for a passionate individual to fill the position of the Executive Director for a community-based nonprofit organization that exists to strengthen the Hmong Identity and Hmong culture. The organization is known for hosting two large events in Minnesota, the Hmong New Year celebration (River Centre) and the Hmong International Freedom Festival.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading all facets of the Agency in support of overall organization’s mission and goals. The Executive Director is responsible for the resource development necessary to support all operations and oversees the financial health of the Agency. This individual will also provide direct supervision and management to the staff and volunteer to ensure the quality and standards of all programs and facilities at a level commensurate with the overall expectations of the organization.

The Executive Director receives directions from and reports to the Board of Directors. This is a full-time salaried, exempt position. In working directly with the board, the induvial will need to have strong project management skills and a sense of independence to ensure contracts are completed, deadlines are met in a timely manner, and the induvial will be able to lead policies and professional work practices while maintaining and tracking the events’ budget. Work hours may vary during event planning seasons with flexible work schedules for evening and weekend meetings.

Closing Date: 10/1/2025

Work Hours: 9:00AM to 5:00PM (Flexibility)

Excepted Workdays: Monday to Friday - (Some weekends and nights, especially the weekend after Thanksgiving)

Travel: Sometimes

Pay: $65,000 - $70,000/Salary (Ranging from experiance)

Location: Onsite in Twin Cities metro area

Qualifications & Requirements:

These duties may be modified from time to time by mutual agreement of parties

  • Excellent volunteer recruitment/maintenance/appreciation skills including a good understanding of

    volunteer management programs including policy, liability (or risk management), and best practices

  • Strong staff leadership and management, guidance, mentoring, and managing difficult conversations

  • Maintain Strong professional work ethics and display operational management skills - excellent

    manager of staff administration activities at all levels of the organization, strong background in

    delegation

  • Background in finance and accounting practices, creating and managing sound budgets, forecasts,

    and maintaining reports to board and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated success in financial management, fundraising, and operational leadership

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills that foster trust with funders, volunteers,

    participants, and community partners and service providers

  • Well organized – excellent time management, punctual, and prioritization skills

  • Strategic thinking characteristics that enable them to analyze situations, make informed decisions,

    and plan for the future, legal experience a plus

  • BA/BS degree or five years experiences in nonprofit leadership roles

  • Grant and donor management and reporting

  • History of effective interaction and engagement with board chairs and board members.

May required lifting boxes and or equipment up to 20Ibs
