The United Hmong Family, INC. is a non-profit organization based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The United Hmong Family developed because we wanted to represent the Hmong community and celebrate the roots of this unique culture.
We exist to preserve cultural identity through intergenerational collaboration, in support of our mission, UHF, INC. hosts two annual events, the Hmong International Freedom Festival and The Minnesota Hmong New Year
ANNUAL EVENTS & PROGRAM
The Hmong International Freedom Festival is an annual event held in Minnesota, specifically in the city of St. Paul, that celebrates Hmong culture and heritage. The event takes place at the McMurry Fields during the summer, seeing crowds from California, Rhode Island, Florida, and more!
The Hmong International Freedom Festival hosts a sports competition featuring traditional and non-traditional sports, such as Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Top Spin, Kato, and Cornhole giving a space to the Hmong athletes and others to compete.
The event is a place for entrepreneurs of all backgrounds to come and be display, merchandise, and food vendors at the festival which receives over 57,000 attendees over the 2 day event.
Hmong International Freedom Festival
The Minnesota Hmong New Year is a significant cultural event celebrated by the Hmong community in Minnesota, particularly in the Twin Cities area, which has one of the largest Hmong populations in the United States. This event typically takes place over Thanksgiving weekend in late November or early December and serves as a major cultural gathering for the Hmong community.
The Minnesota Hmong New Year is celebrated by wearing traditional Hmong Clothing and the event includes cultural exhibits, vendor booths, and food. The Minnesota Hmong New Year also hosts a singing, dancing, and pageant competition.
The Minnesota Hmong New Year is not just a celebration but also an important cultural event that helps to preserve and promote Hmong heritage while allowing the community to share their traditions with a broader audience.

Miss Hmong Minnesota Program
The Miss Hmong Minnesota Program is a program under The United Hmong Family. The court, made up of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners work year-round with the UHF Board on their own group and personal projects, overseen by the UHF Board.
The Miss Hmong Minnesota pageant is an annual competition held at the Minnesota Hmong New Year that celebrates and highlights Hmong culture, talent, and leadership among young women in the Hmong community. The Miss Hmong Minnesota program is a significant cultural program within the Hmong community in Minnesota and serves as both a cultural celebration and a platform for young women to showcase their skills and leadership.
